What is the best rum for ginger ale?

The best rum for a ginger ale is Timber Botanical Rum. A bold statement - yes - but let us explain…

Timber is a botanical rum. It’s a dark Caribbean rum that’s been redistilled with a carefully selected range of botanicals. That second distillation makes Timber a very smooth spirit that’s light gold in colour. The choice of botanicals also sweetens Timber slightly too when compared to other styles of rum. And that’s why we think Timber works so well when paired with ginger ale - its smooth heat and subtle sweetness cuts through the light spice of ginger ale brilliantly.

We’ve included a really easy Ginger Snap cocktail on our perfect serves page . It’s basically Timber with ginger ale, ice and a wedge of fresh lime. As we note there though, the pairing of ginger ale with rums opens up a world of opportunity. For example, we’ve enhanced the humble (but delicious) Ginger Snap with a simple dusting of cinnamon to make for an easy and very drinkable festive cocktail.

The other question we’ve been asked before is which rum goes with ginger beer. Again the simple answer is that Timber Botanical Rum is the best pairing with ginger beer!

Ginger beer, as you likely know, is usually brewed and fermented (whereas ginger ale is more of a ginger flavoured carbonated drink). Although normally also non-alcoholic these days, modern ginger beer has a bigger hit of ginger and is more spicy in its taste than ginger ale. The light sweetness of Timber Botanical Rum works really well with ginger beer as a result.

So there you have it. We think the best rum for ginger ale is Timber Botanical Rum. And, for good measure, Timber is also the best rum to mix with ginger beer in our opinion too!

Why not test it out yourself - you can shop for Timber from our Timber online store. . If you’d like a ginger ale recommendation, we’re big fans of Fever Tree’s Refreshingly Light Ginger Ale to pair with Timber.

Cheers!
