What is the best Rum to mix with Apple Juice?

Timber® Botanical Rum is fantastic as a sipping rum or as a base for your favourite rum cocktails.  But what can you mix with rum? What about rum and apple juice?  Get ready to try a new rum mixer!

Rum Based Cocktails

Rum is a versatile spirit that pairs well with a variety of mixers, Timber Botanical Rum specifically mixes well with sour, sweet, spicy and warm flavours such as;

  • Citrus fruits - citrus complements the subtle hints of orange peel in our rum. Sharpness and acidity of lemon or lime creates a well -balanced flavour in cocktails. Specifically, it tames the strength of alcohol and balances sour with the natural sweetness of rum.

  • Tart fruits such as berries and apples - balancing the sour flavour of the fruit with the natural sweetness of the rum. The acidity of tart fruits can cut through the richness of rum, highlighting it’s complex flavours and spices.

  • Spices such as ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg - spiced rums like Timber Botanical rum often have flavour profiles with notes of vanilla, caramel and nuts. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger add layers of warmth and spice that harmonise with these subtle flavours.

Apple Juice and Rum Pairing

We at Broken Chimney Spirits have been experimenting, and you really don’t need many ingredients to make a simple rum and apple cocktail, that also looks great for your cocktail party.

There are so many variations, but we think the natural sweetness of Timber Botanical Rum complements the apple juice fantastically. Spiced rum adds the warm flavors of vanilla with hints of cloves and cinnamon spices, which makes for a delicious autumn or winter cocktail. The sweetness and sharpness of fresh apple also creates a refreshing summer rum cooler!

As we all know, apples and apple juices come in all sorts of varieties. But, whether the apple juice you use is bitter or sweet, a couple of simple ingredients can be added to suit your tastes...

How to make ‘The Big Apple’

The base of a Timber Big Apple starts off (of course) with award-winning Timber Botanical Rum. Then, depending on how tart or sweet your apple juice is, just add in either a simple syrup or lemon/lime juice to taste (or both). Easy!  For an impressive party cocktail add an egg white to make it all frothy and festive looking.
